$1 Million in Google AdSense Earnings By Scott J Adams

They are calling him the million dollar man. Jason Calacanis recently revealed in his blog that he is on track to earn a million dollars from AdSense over the year ahead.

And if that number doesn’t wake you up and have you sitting on the edge of your seat, consider for a moment that he reached this level in less than a year. His company only started using AdSense in September 2004.

Calacanis runs Weblogs Inc., a network dedicated to creating trade weblogs across niche industries. And he’s quickly proven that AdSense is a credible advertising partner.

As their network has grown, so has their AdSense revenue. In January 2005 they earned an average of $580 per day. In March it was $737. In May it was $1,585. One day in July, just before he made the blog entry referred to above, they earned $2,335. Remember that is just for one day. If they can take that daily average to $2,740 they’ll be earning a rate of $1 million for a year. And Calacanis predicts that reaching daily earnings of $3,000 or even $5,000 is quite achievable.

That’s quite an achievement. Keep in mind that Calacanis has 103 bloggers on the payroll and nine staffers. Even so, many webmasters would give an arm or a leg to have even a third of that.

Google’s AdSense has been revolutionary. It has become firmly established as the darling of the online advertising industry. Although rumors are heard of major competitors launching a similar service, AdSense’s premier position seems secure for now.

In essence, AdSense has made it possible for almost anyone with a web site or blog to earn some revenue from advertising, without having to employ sales people or spend precious time searching for advertisers.

AdSense works like this. Webmasters sign up for an account in just a few minutes. They receive a small snippet of code to include on their web pages. Google will then automatically serve advertisements that are relevant to the content on the webmaster's pages. When someone visits the webmaster's site and clicks on one of Google's AdSense advertisements, the webmaster earns a fee. Advertisers can pay anywhere from five cents to a hundred dollars per click, and the webmaster receives a percentage of that fee.

Many webmasters are content with earning five to ten dollars from AdSense to cover the cost of web hosting. But many, unsurprising, have higher ambitions. At a popular WebmasterWorld forum, participants share tips and encouragement on reaching a goal of $300 per day from AdSense. So it is no wonder that Calacanis created quite a buzz when he made his million dollar blog entry.

Google have proven once again that they excel at designing innovative Internet services. If you are in the web industry and have not yet used AdSense, then perhaps you should try it out. Or if you are already using it, perhaps Calacanis’ impressive results will encourage you to track the performance of your AdSense units more closely, fine tune their positions and formats, and take your earnings to a new level.

Google AdSense Tips - The Need for Researching Keywords by Emma Allen

Most web based entrepreneurs are of course familiar with the concept of keywords, and these professionals no doubt already know how important these focused words can be to the success of their business. When it comes to profiting from the Google AdSense program, keywords are no less important, and it is vital for all existing and would be program participants to do their research and choose their keywords carefully.

This is because Google will use the keywords included within the site as part of its criteria when deciding which types of ads to host on your site. Including the wrong keywords can cause the program to host inappropriate and less profitable ads, while using the right keywords can bring those targeted ad dollars right to your virtual doors.

Navigating the waters of keywords and their effect on Google AdSense is not easy, however, and one of the most common mistakes seen by web consultants is focusing exclusively on the highest paying keywords. These webmasters naturally assume that the highest paying keywords will naturally yield the best results but in fact this is not always the case. After all, it is not enough for a Google AdSense enabled site to merely attract visitors. In order to be successful and profitable, that site must keep visitors there long enough for them to review, and click on, the ads being hosted.

It is therefore, essential for all AdSense program participants to look at their sites with the eyes of a visitor. This can of course be difficult to do, but it is an essential part of the customer service process. It is important to look at your site as if you were encountering it for the first time. Take note of what the site has to offer, what it does well, and what could be improved. It may be helpful to have several others look at your site as well and provide their feedback. This kind of honest feedback can be invaluable in producing a truly useful, intuitive and user friendly experience for visitors.

As you review your own site, consider the type of ads you would most likely expect to see there. For instance, if your site focuses on the antique car hobby, you might expect to see ads for car restoration companies, car show promoters, car parts catalogs and websites and the like.

After you have determined which types of ads you would like to attract to your site, try to incorporate the appropriate keywords into your site. Using keywords that are both popular and profitable is a winning strategy when designing your site to maximize AdSense revenue.

There are of course many ways to research the relative popularity of keywords, some free and some not. If you have an account established with the Google AdWords program, you can check the statistics available at the site to determine which are the most popular keywords in your area of expertise. In addition, the site provides the Google AdWords Keywords Tool. This handy tool allows website owners to quickly and easily find alternative keywords to use on their sites.

In addition to the tools provided by Google itself, there area number of other programs and websites which allow users to research keywords and choose the right ones. These keyword tracking tools can be quite valuable when it comes to designing, tweaking and optimizing websites for maximum effect and maximum AdSense revenue.

Build Adsense Websites: Top 3 Hints Revealed by John Hughes

I see it more and more everyday. People build adsense websites that are content driven, niche specific and optimized so that the reader will ultimately feel compelled to click on one of the many ads displayed throughout the site. Many of these people are making a dollar a click or more. When done right Google Adsense can be a powerful set and forget income stream that should not be overlooked. This article will give you some hints on how to build adsense websites that can earn you steady passive income.

The most important hint I can give you is to find a profitable niche. Not all advertisers bid several dollars a click for their ads to show in Google's results. A good rule of thumb is to stick with industries where big name companies are promoting. For example student loans, credit card debt, mortgage refinancing and the list goes on, but these are some of the biggest industries on the internet today and these advertisers can pay up to ten dollars a click on Google for there ads. Since Google shares close to %50 with its adsense publishers this means you will be receiving anywhere from 1 - 5 dollars per click on your websites.

To build adsense websites that will entice your visitors to click on your ads you will need to come up with a lot of fresh, unique content that they will want to read. Without good content you will not be able to keep them on your web-page long enough for them to see and potentially click your ads.

Creating fresh and unique content doesn't mean that you have to be an expert in credit card debt or whatever your specific niche is. There are hundreds of article directories all over the internet that will let you reprint their articles for free. All you have to do is agree to their terms and conditions which usually require you to leave all links active and not to alter the content in any way. You should use articles that are rich in specific keywords related to your site. Keyword-focused, fresh, unique content will ensure that Google will deliver relevant ads that have high click value.

When you build adsense websites be aware of where you place your ads. The placement of your ads can have a big impact as to whether or not they will be seen and clicked on. A general rule of thumb is to place them above the fold. This means that if you have a page that scrolls down make sure they will see them right away without having to scroll down. Also try to use the wider ad formats whenever possible. It is easier to read ads that don't have as many line breaks to disrupt the flow. For more information on optimizing your ads check out the help section in your Adsense account.

As time goes on I expect to see a lot more people build adsense websites to earn a little extra spending cash. Some might even be able to create a full time income. Finding profitable niches and creating content rich websites is easy using the hints above. One could successfully build 10 or more adsense websites with the potential of earning thousands per month.

Which PPC is Better: Google's Content or Search? by Jimmy Roos

When you advertise using their adwords pay per click program Google offers the advertiser two broad options. The options are to either advertise in search results or to advertise in website content.

Most advertisers with Google choose both options. If you choose Advertising in search, then this means that results are displayed in Google under searches, and in its distributors search results as well.

Google content on the other hand means applies means advertising on those websites who choose to display Adsense ads on their websites. As adsense rapidly expands, it is now viewable on millions of web pages all over the internet. Despite the popularity of Adsense and content many advertisers still stick with advertising in search results.

There are several reasons this happens, and the first reason relates to trust, and can be traced to the issue of click fraud committed by smaller websites as well as adsense empires.

Although this issue is also happens in search it is far less prevalent. Those who commit Click Fraud on search usually do so in order to weaken a competitor's ROI. The same motivation can be said to be at play in adsense, where the site owner attempts to increase his revenues using similar tactics.

Another reason why website owners choose content to advertise with is the motivation of the buyer when he is on a website. Someone who is on a different website, other than the advertisers may be there for totally different reasons. For example, a website that discusses the disadvantages of Adsense, would actually display ads for those selling "Adsense Websites" for example. People may click on it, but they are unlikely to buy after reading a negative review.

The other reason could be that the person on the adsense website may have been looking for what is the best color palette to use. The person therefore would not find the advert relevant, but might click on it in a flippant way.

Adsense websites may also often be rejected by the advertiser because they feel it involves more work. This may entail browsing through websites to see how relevant they are, and editing their bids to ensure they still appear on a page.

With some words having a network of over 500 websites, it no doubt becomes a tedious and expensive task. Although this may be the case, many also find that their Adwords account displays websites, that don't even appear to be trying to support their keywords. The example that comes to mind, are those advertising under legal phrases that appear on adsense websites "terms and conditions" and "privacy policy" pages.

Even though many advertisers shun content advertising, there are those who feel it provides a similar ROI to search. A reason for this can be found in the fact that more and more advertisers are only choosing search. As this happens the advertiser has less competition causing the price per click to reduce.

Advertisers are also finding a good ROI from publisher websites that decide to actively promote the advertiser's services within their content. An example of this can be found when someone discusses printing services, and actually directly recommends the advertiser's services. This turns out to be a good move for both the publisher and the advertiser, and a good way for publishers to go forward.

However in spite of this, publishers should still remember, to not be too obvious in doing this, or savvy buyers may figure out the publisher's intention.

There is one more reason why advertisers may opt for content, and that is to increase their scale, however this can also be done across other search engines. The fact however still remains that those who choose content advertising choose the Google Adsense network. It is better regulated than it's competitors such as yahoo's and others, and it's superior network of publishers mean the advertisers will benefit from being able to spread their message through many different kinds of websites.

In spite of Adsense being the best Pay Per Click content distributor, it certainly doesn't compare to search for the advertiser. On search the leads are more qualified, more regulated, and tend to be less fraudulent. This has seen advertisers consistently choose search over content. However the advertiser's should always test adsense and see if it offers the ROI they are looking for. Some advertisers say that content provides a better return for their business than search. This varies, however and generally search remains King for PPC advertisers.

5 Hot Tips for Fast Success with Adsense by Jimmy Roos

Once you've used Google's Adsense program for a while you will begin to learn from the mistakes you made in the past. This will allow you to clearly see which of these mistakes kept your site from reaching its full earning potential.

Making a mistake is not bad in the sense that you learn from it. However that is not all. By telling others about it, you also give them the benefit of learning from your mistakes so they don't have to make the same mistakes.

The following is a list of the top five mistakes made by people who use AdSense.

Pay attention to them so that you can see if any of them apply to your contents. If it is, you must stop and make an effort to fix such errors as soon as possible.

The first big no-no that everyone seems to be doing at one point or another relates to breaking the rules. Google's AdSense is a great program but it comes with a few set rules you need to respect.

Probably the most important of these is to refrain from creating "artificial clicks" by all means possible. Never click on your own links, ask your friends or close ones to click the links and never, by any means have your content encouraging the visitors to click the links. If you do this you run the risk of being permanently banned by Google from its Adsense program, and this will definitely hurt your pocket.

Failure to comply with Google's terms could have your AdSense account suspended. And this is why this rule is the most important of all. It may mean the difference between life or death for some people.

The second thing users often get wrong is having a bad color palette for ads. Many times this happens because the publishers aren't knowledgeable with changing default color palettes.

Others just can't seem to spend enough time in changing those defaults. Having bad ads that stand out is will keep people from clicking your ads. On the other hand having something which is clearly visible yet distinctive will encourage more clicks.

The third mistake is the positioning of the ads. Getting this right and you are likely to skyrocket your adsense profits. Get it wrong and you'll hardly get any click-throughs.

This fact is mentioned in a lot of places on the web and Google mentions it. Google can provide you with statistics which illustrate what positions work particularly well on your website.

The fourth mistake is using banner ads with AdSense. 480x60 type ads are a sure way to drive visitors away as most Internet surfers have developed a natural resistance to such means of advertising.

The fifth mistake is not taking care of the site running the ads. Because ultimately it doesn't matter how cool the site is itself. If the content is not updated regularly and if it doesn't have many daily visitors it will probably never earn you any serious AdSense revenues.

So those are the most important five mistakes people make while using the AdSense program. But of course if you don't like me to dwell on the negatives, here are the top five things you should do to ensure your AdSense ads are constantly bringing in that revenue.

Never break Google's policy. Don't encourage visitors to create "artificial clicks" on your website regardless of who it is or for what reason. Make sure your ads have the right colors and blend in well with your site. Also make sure they're positioned in the right places so as to attract as many customers as possible. Always try to avoid using banner-like (480x60) ads unless you really know what you're doing and constantly update your site's content.

So by paying attention to these points and applying them you should be raising your AdSense revenues in no time.

The Butterfly Manuscript Is All You Need

Butterfly Marketing proves to be just as powerful in strategies then in the software itself. Below you will find a student and customer of the course.

http://lwazi.bfmscript.hop.clickbank.net

Michael Cheney of "Adsense Videos" applied the the pre-launch strategies and affiliate tools and JV strategies outlined in Mike Filsaime's Butterfly Marketing Manuscript to the his launch.

Here is what Michael Cheney had to say about what he learned in the Manuscript:

------------------------------------------------------

"Mike - first off I just want to say thank you so much! The techniques I learned from Butterfly Marketing played a BIG part in helping me make $63,249 in sales in 24 hours!!

As I write this I'm still finding it hard to believe. It seems a lifetime ago that the BFM package landed on my doorstep and I started poring over it with my smile getting larger and wider with each new insight as I realized that as long as I APPLIED what I was learning the principles were going to make something BIG happen!

Little did I know just HOW BIG it would be when I launched AdSense Videos...

AdSense Videos - 33 Hours After Launch..

The site went live. My life changed forever - seriously the results have been incredible Mike - we've grossed over $200,000 in 7 days!! The site got an Alexa ranking on Launch Day of 351!

AdSense Videos was ranked Number 1 on the ClickBank Marketplace in the Marketing category just 4 days after the Launch!

I've also been getting, on average, one new subscriber every minute of every hour for the past SIX AND A HALF DAYS!!!

So - What did I learn from you Mike and from Butterfly Marketing? Where to start! I think one of the biggest things was the step-by-step approach. Everything I created for Affiliates, Joint Venture partners and for people going through the videos themselves has been step-by-step. I made everything as easy as I could and 'muppet-proof' as I like to call it!

I also realized that it's paying attention to the smaller details BEFORE launch that really pay dividends AFTER the Launch. And BOY am I seeing that!

You gave some absolute gems of advice in Butterfly Marketing which have, without a shadow of a doubt, contributed in a big way to the overall success of AdSense Videos.

Thanks again!

Get Paid To Blog by Nicole Lawler

Over the past couple of years, there have been many articles written about the concept of blogging for pay. Many people have different ideas on whether you can truly make money doing this or not. There are many that have in fact made money blogging while others believe it's not possible. Forget about right or wrong; if you look at the getting paid to blog concept from a theoretical standpoint, this idea definitely makes sense. Blogging itself has the packaging of all of the things needed in order to make money.

If you've already created a blog, you understand that with a blog, you have a built in content management system. This management system allows you to post new items to the blog, in which your viewers, after having read them, can then comment and start a new discussion regarding any of the posts. This content business is all about getting people to revisit you often and repeatedly so that you can, in turn, make money from their page views. People will continue to come back when you offer them fresh content to view.

Another factor is that customization of blogs is very easy. This is very impressive, especially when considering the horror of constructing a website from scratch, and all of the labor-intensive work involved in getting it started. You even have different templates to use in creating your blog to make it unique for you. With a blog, you can be up and running in a matter of moments and save yourself all of the headaches.

Because of such easy customization with blogging, it's easy to add multiple streams of revenue to them. If you have an interest in revenue streams for your blogs, you can use Google AdSense or even a similar product with the greatest of ease. To get this same thing done with a website, you'd have to completely change the layout of a content website, which is very time consuming. With a blog, you can have all of this integrated in a matter of minutes. It really is a snap.

So all in all, the theory behind getting paid to blog is quite sound and indeed if you want to make money with a blog it is certainly something you can try. But always make sure to blog about something you're interested in, because if you don't then you might have difficulty continually filling up your blog with content.

Benefit of A Niche Market by Soli Katir

According to Mina, the benefits of targeting a specific niche market include:* If you are going to rely on eBay as your primary source of income, it is essential that you find your niche. One top of the notch habits many eBay power sellers know is that they should always keep expanding their niche or sub-niche business product line. I bid on a lingerie web business template on eBay with a starting price of £99; my wife was a lingerie merchandiser for Marks & Spencers and so I though she could help, then I saw a gadgets website from the same people and thought I would get that and see if I could find a gadgets niche and bid for that too.

Even a small business owner doing business on eBay will profit from having a consistent, memorable image as an established, reliable firm associated with expertise in its niche. Knitting Patterns Knitting and other craftwork patterns are hugely popular sellers on eBay, especially unusual and niche market types, such as dolls' clothing, war-time economy designs, clothes for animals, and so on. 106 Whether the business is to be established locally or online, the research in billion dollar sites like Yahoo and eBay get the job done to know potential great sub-niche markets for the gaming business both nationally and in international countries.

After you install BANS, you activate your niche eBay store by loading the setup page into your web browser and filling in a few simple details, including the name of your store and the number of the eBay category you want your listings to come from.

WHAT eBAY SELLERS DON'T KNOW Many eBay sellers arrive at this particular Internet business niche independently of a previous Internet marketing experience. F1 The website that "Build a Niche Store" creates for you also displays AdSense ads too and this is where is gets very interesting because the AdSense ads display text ads relevant to the eBay items which are displayed on your site. This tool is especially useful if you are an "eBay Newbie" looking for a product or niche to specialize in for your first foray into the forests of eBay.

Three Ways to Make Money from Your Blog by jon d

http://www.interviewghost.com Making money from your blog is the in thing to do these days. And why not? It's a way to earn a little extra income every month, and--if you're lucky--you might even be able to turn it into a full-time job. You know, the kind of job where you sleep in every day and go to "work" in your pajamas. It's a dream of many. Let's look at some ways you can achieve that dream with your blog.

There are three big ways you can make money if you have a blog. Oh, there are lots of others, as well (anything you can dream up could possibly bring in income), but these are techniques that I, and many others, have used in order to make money.

1. Sell advertising

This is perhaps the easiest to implement, and programs such as Google Adsense make it painless. You never have to interact with merchants, and you don't even need to have any programming skills. Google supplies you with a snippet of code, which you copy and paste into your blog template. Then when visitors visit your site, they'll not only see your content, but they'll see the advertisements. If they click on them, you get paid.

You can place the ads anywhere on your site, but try to place them as close to the content as you can in order to get them noticed. Also put them "above the fold" (this means they should show up as soon as people load the page, before they have to scroll down) for maximum exposure. It goes without saying that you'll make more money if people notice your ads.

If you don't want to work with a program such as Adsense, there's nothing stopping you from working independently with merchants. If you have a blog with a lot of traffic, especially if it focuses on a certain industry or "niche," you can sell text links or banner links.

You can go out and ask companies if they'd like to advertise, but sometimes just putting up a link on your blog with information on your rates is enough to get people asking you to advertise.

With both Adsense and the independent selling of ads, your mileage will depend a lot on the topic you blog about and how much traffic you get. More traffic will always earn you more money.

2. Affiliate programs

Another way to make money from your blog is to sign up for affiliate programs with merchants. This is the Internet version of working on commission. You sign up for a program, use special links to promote the company on your blog, and then you get paid if someone clicks through from your site and buys something from the merchant.

There are many, many affiliate programs out there, so you can probably find something appropriate to promote in just about any niche. Simply go to one of your favorite online stores and look around to see if they have an affiliate program. If they do, you can often find the link, which will say something like "affiliates" or "associates," down in the footer of the site. You can also join a big affiliate site like Commission Junction or LinkShare.

These guys act as middlemen. From their sites you can browse through hundreds or even thousands of merchants with affiliate programs. You're sure to find something that matches your blog and may be of interest to your readers.

3. Write sponsored posts

This is a relatively new way to make money from your blog, but it's quickly catching on in popularity. It's a form of advertising where the promotion meshes with the content you write. Basically you write paid posts for companies. They pay you $10 or $25 or some such (a lot of what you get depends on how heavily trafficked your blog is), and you write a post that mentions their company, reviews one of their products, or some such.

How do you find companies that are willing? You can join a program, such as Pay Per Post, which acts as the middle man and hooks you up with companies who are willing to pay for posts in your blog (with this program, a price is set by the company). You can also go to webmaster forums, such as the Digital Point Forums, and start a thread that says you're willing to post about companies on your blog for money. This way you get to set the price, and advertisers come to you.

Now that we've looked at three big ways to make money from your blog, hopefully you have some ideas and are looking forward to getting started. Remember, the key to doing well is to get traffic, so don't forget to promote your own blog while you're working on making money from it.

3 Reasons Why Adsense Is Essential For Content Sites by Peter OBrien

To realize why Adsense is a necessity for your content web sites is to realize how adsense works.

The idea is real simple. The publisher or the webmaster pastes java script into a certain site. Each time the website is accessed, the java script will reveal advertisements from the Adsense program. The adsense ads are relevant to the content that is contained on the web page serving the ad. For example, if you have page on your site and the content is about basketball, then the ads that will show will be about or related to basketball. If a visitor clicks on an advertisement, the webmaster showing the ad earns a part of the money that the advertiser is paying the search engine for the click.

The search engine administers all the tracking and payments, supplying a simplified way for webmasters to show content-relevant and targeted ads without having the bother to call for advertisers, collect funds, track the clicks and statistics. That alone will save you hours of your precious time and there is never a shortfall of advertisers in the adsense program.

The first reason why Adsense is a necessity for content Web Sites is because it understands the needs of publishers and webmasters. You know have full ad customization. There are many different sizes that you can choose from for your ad so it fits with your layout and design. You can also choose the colors for your ad.

This is a big help because now you can match the ad color with your website making the ads part of the site and not just screaming out as advertisments. You can blend the ads right into your article.

The different formatting options alllows the site owners the opportunity of a higher click through rate from visitors who might or might not be aware that they are clicking on an ad. It can also appeal to the people visiting because you have given them another source to find the information or product that they are searching for on the web. Either way you are making money just for someone clicking on those ads. No sale required.

The second reason is the capability of the Adsense publishers to track each websites impressions, click through rate and earnings with the webmaster-defined channels. You set up your channels and they become part of the java script code that you place on your website. You can also see which ad formats and colors are working best. Tracking is a very important part of having adsense on your site or sites.

Your Adsense account is equipped with the real-time reporting. This allows you to see which pages, ads, and websites are perfoming best very quickly. You can make changes if needed and any changes or tweaks that are done, the results will come back quickly to see how your changes are perfoming.

The final reason that you should have adsense on your website is that the advertisers understand the benefits of having their ads placed on targeted websites. All web site owners want targeted traffic to visit their site. Targeted traffic means they are interested in what is being sold on the website and thus a better chance for a sale to be made. You advertise on your site and you get paid when they click on the ad. Remember, no sale required for you to make any money.

To sign up for a google adsense account is free. YOu sign up and then google reviews your application. They have the right to decline your application, but this rarely happens.

Go to google.com and apply for your adsense account today.

Google's Wordpress and Adsense Can Help You Make Money by Ed Brancheau

Begin with Wordpress to utilize Google Adsense as your marketing method for an online business.

Wordpress is a dual-use program that can be used to maintain a blog and manage your online content. It's very simple to manage your content with Wordpress and you will be able to post your content rapidly with little effort.

The "dashboard" panel allows you to easily maintain your pages and write posts, using an interface resembling that of a word processor. All aspects of your site including category management are performed using dashboard.

Wordpress is so customizable you will see that it makes a really great basis for an Adsense website. Wordpress users have access to thousands of different templates, called themes, and many optimize your click through rate by including Adsense blocks in optimal positions. You can thus turn your site into an Adsense website by simply uploading an Adsense-ready theme. That will give you more time to develop original content to attract visitors to your website.

Not only do many themes include link units and Adsense ad units, but they are also often Search Engine Optimized, or SEO, which means the construction is best for a search engine spider to recognize it, and they will also interlink pages so that access is in the correct order.

In addition, Wordpress uses pingomatic to alert services whenever you update any page on your site. Search engines will know that you have created new content and will send search engine spiders to index your site. RSS feeds and sitemaps can also be generated automatically.

Since Wordpress is a blogging platform, it functions automatically to permit comments from site visitors about articles you create. This feature encourages visitors to stay on your site longer. (Indeed, since their comments add to your site's generated content, visitors are doing some additional work for you.)

Thousands of plugins that can quickly add more functionality to your site are available through Wordpress. For instance, a plugin that automatically adds links to words is a potent tool for affiliate marketers. That plugin makes it very simple to generate affiliate links and words with which you would like your site to be associated.

Affiliate webmasters and Adsense site operators will love Wordpress!

The Truth About Pay Per Click Banner Advertising by Tony Schirmer

The Truth About Pay Per Click Banner Advertising

Banner advertising is very popular with pay per click (PPC) advertisers; the ability to broadcast an ad in many places related to the ad is a very tempting offer. If you have ever owned a Google Adwords™ account, you will know that a large mass of clicks come from banner or contextual advertising. When advertising on search engines, you are paying for your text advert to be positioned in the search engine results, but contextually based advertisements can be placed anywhere online. As attractive as that sounds to the advertiser, is it really such a good idea?

Contextually based ads are spread to any website that the advertising agency (or search engine) considers being congruent with the ad. As accurate as this can be, it may be able to very well result in adverts being misplaced on non-relevant information WebPages, more often than not, on compatible informational sites. It makes sense to advertise where information is relevant, like an informational site, but if the end-user is looking at material about a product usually they are, regularly, not ready to buy it. Of course this is not true for every field, and in some cases (when marketing to high school students for example) contextual based adverts can be very beneficial.

In most cases where you are selling a physical product, service online, or online product, search engine distributed adverts give a much better response. With a long tail keyword list, that is, a very specific group of keywords targeted at buyers in that specific topic, the conversion rates can be extremely high on search engine positioned ads. The conversion rate of contextually based ads has been proven to be significantly lower than its search based counterpart. Simply, this means a lot of clicks and not many sales. The search engines know this and put a lower price per click per contextually based ad.

Google's contextual ad broadcasting system is a system called Google Adsense™. It is complementary to Google Adwords™ and displays those ads that are created within each Adwords™ campaign with contextual advertising enabled. Every site with Google Adsense™ is "spidered" for content relevancy, and once the topic and keywords have been pulled from the site, it displays the appropriate ads. For the majority of the time this is pretty well correct. But if the content is very generic or does not contain the suitable keywords and lexical words, it could very well display something unrelated.

When advertising on pay per click, patience is a vital key. Putting up an ad campaign and expecting thousands of clicks in a day only works in some fields, and without contextual advertising you may only get a few clicks through to your site. The majority of the time it is going to be a few weeks before you see results, that is, without good keyword research. With the correct keywords you can see a sale within minutes or hours.

So how do you choose what is right for your particular campaign? Generally if you want to have more targeted traffic and create sales only use search engine placement, and turn off contextual advertising. If you are trying to create awareness contextual based advertising is a great way to do that.

Just How Much Money Can I Make With Adsense? by Jimmy Roos

Perhaps you have looked at Google's AdSense program and asked yourself how much you could earn from such a program. And you may think you are unlikely to earn as much as you can make from traditional advertising ventures.

The owners of Adsense, Google, are very secretive about how much AdWords advertisers pay per each click directed to their website and the same is true for how much AdSense banner holders make from their websites.

There are rumors circulating on the internet, unofficial of course, relating to the amounts of money a website can earn by using AdSense. There are even scores of people who reveal, although illegally, how much they have been earning from AdSense. Some are claiming to make over one thousand dollars per day through AdSense.

However this is not all, there others who claim to have earned over $100,000.00 per month, although this is bit hard to believe.

The facts of the matter is, that if you have a small website and you don't want to spend extra money to maintain it, then you can probably do this with AdSense.

AdSense also works well for people who are hosting a lot of pages. Even if the said pages don't generate a lot of traffic individually, they make up for it in the sheer numbers. One can earn a lot in this way as every click counts. This just goes to prove that sometimes quantity matters almost as much as quality.

There's no telling how much money you're going to make by using Google's AdSense but you can sort of figure that out for yourself, before you actually start, by taking a few things into consideration.

The first thing you need to consider is the amount of visitors you receive per day.

While there's no way to get an exact estimate, one can generally assume that if you receive a lot of clicks per day you'll be earning good money.

This also depends on exactly what your site is about. If your site is about popular topics such as (music, sex, whatever) you're likely to get a lot of banner clicks. These have a coefficient associated with them, which is called the CTR (click through ratio).

What it basically means is that if a large proportion of your site visitors click the ads on your site, you'll make more money. And the best way to do this is to load your site with popular content, ensuring you link direct users towards popular items as well.

And then of course, is the position and number of ads on your website. While you don't want to overdo things, having many links will likely generate more income for you as an online business owner. However, don't think that just placing a lot of ads in an important portion of your site, you would automatically get clicks. Your visitors could always just skip them, and be assured that many do just that.

Properly positioning your ads is a combination of arts and science. People generally look in certain places and completely ignore others. Knowing this a website author and/or webmaster can do a great number of things to increase what he makes with AdSense.

Overall, the amount of money you make with AdSense depends on many factors. But if you have a site with interesting contents and/or many pages, and if you see a constantly large amount of traffic every day, you can be sure that you'll be making a lot of money with AdSense.

Even if you are not in the above categories, AdSense is still worth using because it doesn't take much to set up, and many times it can help to financially support the site, whilst being a nice bonus to get through the post at the end of the month.

For best results it is necessary to use optimized niche website templates. You may find optimised adsense templates and blog templates all over the internet. Just go to any search engine and type in adsense templates.

Learn The Secrets Of Making Money Online by Joe Giannetti

So, you want to learn the secrets to making money online? You have come to the right place. In this article you will find out these truly guarded secrets to the top internet gurus.

Every now and again, a big deal will go through, and people who have never seriously considered an internet business, start thinking about their own online business.

The Google - YouTube deal is just one such deal.

Chad Hurley and Steve Chen started YouTube "in their garage" - likely in their living room office - but a "garage start-up" sounds so cool. Hurley and Chen started their website only 20 months before Google bought it for $1.65 billion. That is $825 million each for 20 months work, or $41.25 million dollars each for every month they were in operation!

All of us dream the big dream, but then reality sets in. Few of us can look forward to earning $40 million per month. While you can probably count the people who have on two hands, there are still thousands more people who have managed to turn their online business into a million dollar a year business.

Most people who start an online business might dream of making one million per year, but most would be happy just to earn enough to leave their day job behind them. Some would even be happy to earn just enough to pay their car payment or to save for their kid's college tuition fees. All are worthy goals, and the good news is that all are within the reach of most people who strive to reach them.

Learning How To Play The Game

As with any great endeavor in life, there is a process one must follow in order to be successful.

The first step is learning how to play the game.

The beauty of starting an online business is that the internet is driven by information. If you have a desire to learn about something, then you will find someone on the internet who is willing to teach you about the topic you wish to learn. You can literally find information available on any topic, some of it free and some of it available for a small fee.

Online Business Structures

There are four primary business structures on the internet:

1. Product Sales

2. Service Sales

3. Membership Websites

4. Advertising Platforms

Product sales include both hard goods and digital items. Examples of hard goods include food, clothing, car parts, books and music. Examples of digital items include electronic books and software.

Within these four primary platforms, there are several ways to accomplish each business process. For example, with a Product Sales driven website, you can opt to use: a direct sales website, an online auction system, or an affiliate sales format. With Service sales, you can use the direct sales website or the affiliate sales format.

Affiliate sales systems are akin to Reseller sales systems. There really is one difference between an affiliate sales system and a reseller program.

With an affiliate program, you will direct the buyer to the seller's real website - through a special tracking URL that is only available to you - to make their actual purchase, and you as the affiliate will be paid on a monthly schedule for the sales that you have generated.

With the reseller program, the source company will remain hidden in the background. You will make the sale, collect the money from the buyer, and then you will process the sale through a private access point on the seller's website.

The concept behind the membership program is that people will rent access to a private area of your website.

The most well known advertising platform of course is the search engine. They make their money when someone else buys advertising. Other such sites include news or general information websites.

While the big boys make up the immediately recognizable websites based on the advertising platform, many small publishers are making a good living by providing advertising driven websites.

Low-Cost Entry Point

Forget going out and renting an office for $900 per month. Forget about having to set up utilities in your home and at your office. This is another one of the beauties of an online business. You really do not need to have a costly storefront in order to go into business for yourself.

If you go the online auction route, you will not need to have a website at all. But you may need the extra room in your house or in your garage to handle storage of the product you will be selling, unless you go the drop-shipping route.

The idea behind a drop-shipper is that you can register with a wholesaler. Then you can sell single-piece items to your customers, and process the order through the wholesaler in the same way you would through a reseller program. When you buy the product from the wholesaler, you will give them the direct shipping address of your customer, and the wholesaler will put your shipping label on the package. When your customer receives the product, by all appearances, that product will have come from your warehouse. To find drop-shippers who serve your choice product lines, you should sign up for a lifetime membership at World Wide Brands for their drop-shipper locator service: http://www.myaffiliateprogram.com/u/worldwid/b.asp?id=3601

In any other business model, you should seriously consider registering your own domain name, even if you intend to utilize the affiliate sales systems. The costs of pursuing this route are minimal. You can expect to spend $20-30 buying ownership of your own domain name for one year, and you can generally get a web hosting account (where you actually manage and store your domain) for anywhere from $30-50 per month.

Low Knowledge Threshold

Many web-hosting companies offer a HTML editing tool within their domain management interface that lets you build and design your website's pages.

The beauty of these HTML editing tools is that you do not have to know how to build actual webpages. You simply type what you want into the editing interface, highlight what you want to put in bold print, and then click a little button that converts your highlighted text to bold print. The same processes apply for links to other webpages, and a wide variety of text formatting options. It is so easy, even a caveman could do it.

Mix-and-Match For Best Results

The lowest-cost systems for your first website is between the advertising platform, and product and service sales through affiliate programs. The best benefit for each of these three options is that you will not need to build your own online payment systems. That is a real advantage when you are just starting to get your feet wet.

For advertising systems, many people today utilize the Google Adsense system to put paid advertising on their website. To get involved using Google Adsense, you simply need to get your website approved by the Google staff, and then you copy a piece of code they give you and put that code into your webpages. You can generally get Google's approval in three to five days. And then, once you apply Google's code to your webpage, you will be able to get paid for advertising on your website immediately.

Affiliate programs work in the same way. You get registered with the affiliate's website, and then they will give you a small piece of code that you can copy-and-paste and put directly into your website. Once again, you could be earning money from your visitors beginning the same day you put the affiliate code on your website.

My best advice is to not rely on only one system for making money.

Google Adsense pays you every time someone clicks an advertisement on your website (don't do this yourself, or Google will terminate your account with them). Because Google is paying you for traffic that you send to their advertisers, you will only get paid based on a percentage of what Google collects from their client for that visitor. In some cases, we are talking about pennies per visitor.

With affiliate programs, you could literally make $2 or $200 for one sale.

I believe that if you are getting into an internet business on the advertising platform, you should not rely only on Google Adsense, nor should you rely only on your affiliate programs. But together, both systems on your website could provide a significant income for you. You now have some of the secrets to become the next internet millionaire. Now, go get started!

The 3 Reasons Why Content Sites Need Adsense! by Jimmy Roos

In order to appreciate why Adsense is vital for your content sites you must understand how it works.

The concept behind it is actually very simple, if you think about it. The owner or publisher of the website inserts a java-script into the source code of his website. So what happens is that every time the page is accessed, the java script will fetch ads from the Adsense program which will then be displayed on that specific webpage.

The ads that are being served in this way are supposed to relate to the content found on the webpage where the ad is displayed. Now how it works is this. Whenever any of the visitors to that website clicks on any of the ads served by Google Adsense, the website owner will earn a portion thereof.

The owner of the website doesn't have to worry about who will pay him or how he will be paid. All of the supplying the ads, tracking and payment is handled by Google

This allows the webmaster to focus on providing quality content on his site without having to worry about soliciting advertisers, collecting funds, or monitoring the clicks and statistics which could be a time-consuming task in itself.

It appears as if Google never runs out of advertisers in the program from where the search engine pulls the Adsense ads. Website owners also seem to be less concerned by the lack of information provided by the search engines and are content in making as much cash as they can from the search engines.

One of the reasons why Adsense is vital for content sites is because it already has come a long way with publishers and webmasters and hence understand their needs better.

Running together with its continuous progression is the appearance of a more advanced system that enables full ad customization. Webmasters are given a chance to choose from many different types of text-ad formats so that the Adsense ads can better match their website layout.

The different formatting allows the site owners the option to get more click-through from visitors who may or may not be aware of what they are clicking on.

It also has the added benefit that it can appeal to visitors, thus making them take that next step of looking up what it is all about. In this way the advertisers whose ads are displayed via Adsense will get their content read and make a profit as well.

The second reason is the ability given to Adsense publishers to track not only how their sites are doing but to also see the earnings based on the channels they have channels.

Recent improvements in the search engine technology give webmasters the ability to monitor the performance of their ads with customizable reports that can detail page impressions, clicks and click-through rates.

It is now easier for webmasters and publishers to track specific ad formats, colors and pages within a website. This way trends are also easily spotted.

With the availability of real-time reporting, the effectiveness of the changes made can quickly be assessed. There would be time to adjust your strategy based on what is attracting the most clicks.

The ever-changing demands would be met while generating cash for the webmasters and publishers. The more flexible tools are also enable website owners to group web pages by URL, domain, ad type or category, providing them with more accurate insights as to which pages, ads and domains are performing best.

The last and final reason why adsense is essential to website owners is that advertisers have realized the benefits associated with having their ads served on targeted websites. This increases the chances of a prospective web surfer having an interest in their product or service.

All of this because of the content and its continuous maintenance. Adsense publishers have the option of having other people do their content for them, giving them the benefit of having successful and money-generating web sites, as opposed to those who are no using Adsense on their sites.

We should not forget that Adsense is all about targeted content, the more targeted your content is, the more targeted the ads being displayed.

There are some web masters and publishers who are focused more on the content of their site and how best to maintain these than the cash that the ads will generate for them. This is the part where the effectiveness is works best.

There was a time when people were not yet aware of the money to be earned from advertisements. Many webmasters and publishers only recently realized how much money they can make through Adsense. Before Adsense, content was the most important factor that was taken quite seriously. It still is the case today, with the added allure of money, of course.

How to Improve Your Website's Google Ranking

Move Your Website up a Little on the List
Google's search engine, www.google.com, uses a variety of methods to determine which pages are displayed first in the results. Their exact formula is a secret, but there are a few things you can do to improve your positioning. The term for this is Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

These tips may not make your website the first one to appear in the list, but they just may help you move up a little.

Ignore spam and websites that offer to submit your website to hundreds of search engines. At best these are wastes of time or money and at worst they can actually hurt your ranking.

Keyword Phrases
Rather than focusing on a single word, try adding a few words to make a keyword phrase. You may want to read about effective Google searches to see how keyword phrases help with searches. If you were searching for your own website, what keyword phrase would you type into Google for each page? Would you look for “super fast widgets?” Would you look for “cooking with widgets?” It may be helpful to get a different perspective. Ask someone else to read your page and suggest what they think your keyword phrase might be.

Stick to one subject per page, and stick to one keyword phrase per page.

Density

One of the things Google looks for when it catalogs pages is the density of the keyword usage. In other words, how often the keyword occurs. Use natural phrasing. Don't try to trick the search engine by repeating the same word over and over or making text "invisible." It doesn't work. In fact, it may even get your Web site banned from Google.

Give a strong opening paragraph. Google may or may not search beyond the first 200 words or so of your web site, but it definitely looks at the first paragraph for keyword density.

You can check your keyword density with Google Toolbar.

Name Your Pages

Give your pages a descriptive name with the title tag. This is vital. Google displays search results as a link using the web page’s title. A link called “untitled” isn’t enticing. When appropriate, use the page’s keyword phrase in the title.

You can learn more about HTML tags from the About Guide to Web Design.

Learn more about why titles matter.

Link Early, Link Often

One of the biggest factors Google looks at is the hyperlink. Google looks at both links to and from your website.

Google looks at the words you use in links to help determine the content of your page. Use links within web pages as a way to emphasise keywords. Rather than saying, “click here to learn more about SEO,” you should say: Read more about SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Learn more about why naming your links matters to Google.

Links from other websites to your website are used to determine PageRank. You can use Google Toolbar to check your current PageRank.

You can improve your PageRank by exchanging text links with other relevant websites. Banner exchanges are not as effective. You can also improve your PageRank by making sure your website is listed with important directories. In other words, check the PageRank of the home page of the directory.

Submit Your Site to the Right Directories

Submit your website to the open directory project, if possible. Google considers this directory to be an important link. Be patient. A real human has to check your site, before it's listed in Directory.

Submit your site to specialized directories. For instance, a work at home mother owned business (WAHM) should submit her site to WAHM directories. A site on butterflies should be sent to biology or entomology directories.

Don’t get too submission happy, though. Google, in an effort to combat “click fraud,” often filters out websites linked from “link farms,” or websites with nothing but links to other websites. This is one reason why free services to register your website may hurt you. Stick to specialized directories and organizations. They’re more likely to help and not hurt your rankings.

Make Your Graphics Search Friendly

Keep the Flash to a minimum. People may enjoy reading Flash, but search engines tend to skip right over it. If your menus are in Flash, they might as well be invisible. Consider making plain text links in addition to or instead of Flash.

Give your images tags. Not only does it make your website more accessible to the visually impaired, it also gives you another chance to place your keywords where Google can see them.

Good Design Is Popular Design

In the end, strong, well organized pages are pages that Google tends to rank higher. They're also pages that tend to become more popular, which means Google will rank them even higher. Keep good design in mind as you go, and much of the SEO will design itself.

Top 10 AdSense Don'ts

Want to make money with Google AdSense for content? Here's a list of what not to do, unless you want to get banned. Google doesn't play around when it comes to click fraud. Click fraud loses Google money, and it loses AdWords customers money.

If you don't play by the rules, you may get a warning, you may get suspended, or you may just get banned.

1. Commit Google Don'ts

The first thing to avoid is any of the Google Don'ts. Cloaking, keyword stuffing, and title stacking are all ways to get banned from Google searches. They're also ways to get banned from AdSense.

When you place AdSense ads on your site, your site is far more visible to Google and it's much more likely that your rule breaking will be caught.

2. Click on Your Own Ads

No matter how tempting, never ever click on your own ads. This is probably the easiest way to get your site suspended or banned. It's a form of click fraud, and Google is very good at catching this, even if you think you're hiding your tracks.

Don't let anyone who uses any computer in your home click on your ads, either. Make sure your significant others and children are aware of the rules, or you could jeopardize your standing with Google.

3. Hide Your Ads

It might be tempting to hide your ads by making them the same color as your background or camouflaging them on areas with busy background images. You do still get paid for pageviews, so invisible ads would still pay, right? Don't even try it. This violates Google's Terms of Service, and it's easy to get caught.

Don't stuff your ads far below the rest of the content, either. Clicks pay better than pageviews, so it's to your advantage to have your ads prominent. Try to make the ads look like they belong on your page.

4. Beg for Clicks

Don't hold ad-click contests, beg, or even give big hints that people should click on your ads. They can ban you if they catch you begging for clicks anywhere on the Web, including pages that are totally unrelated to your AdSense pages.

Google also forbids labeling your ads with language stronger than "sponsored links." This is really for everyone's benefit. Pages that beg for clicks are usually not great reads, and pity clicks don't help the advertisers.

Note: It's fine to have contests on your Web site that aren't related to ad clicking or other rule breaking, such as "best photo" contests.

5. Alter the Code

AdSense generates javascript code that you can copy-and-paste directly into the HTML of your Web page. If you need to change the color or size of your ads, generate new code from AdSense. Don't make changes to the code from your Web page editing program or tweak it by hand.

If you put AdSense in Blogger, Google will generate the code for you from within Blogger.

6. Use Robots to Click on Your Site

Never use any sort of automated tool to inflate your page views or click on your ads. This is click fraud of the highest order, and Google is very sophisticated at catching this. This is a trick that can easily get you banned.

Likewise, don't use human-powered schemes to pay for clicks, either. No trading clicks with other AdSense users, and no pay-for-clicking schemes. If advertisers wanted to pay people for clicking, they would have signed up for it themselves.

7. Tell People How Much You Earn Per Click

Google is very picky about how much you disclose about how AdSense works. They don't let you tell people how much you were paid per keyword, because this could jeopardize revenue from AdWords advertisers. Beware of anyone who offers to sell you this information.

8. Make Pages Specifically to Display Ads

Google says you can't make pages simply to hang ads, "whether or not the page content is relevant." Many Web sites, including About.com, make money from ads. Google itself makes most of its money from advertising. What makes the difference between ad sponsored content and content for the sake of ads?

When you develop your site, your first thought should be about creating content, not ads. Avoid writing empty sentences for the sake of generating keywords, and avoid lengthy copy-and-pastes just to make more pages. Every page you publish should have a content-driven purpose.

9. Make Content About Taboo Topics

Google has a strict list of content standards, and they don't accept AdSense on pages that are violating them. These include, among other things, sites that promote or sell:
  • alcohol
  • certain weapons
  • firearms
  • tobacco
  • drugs
  • designer knock-offs
This is a silly rule to violate, because AdSense is keyword generated, so it's amazingly easy for you to get caught. If you do have content that violates these rules, such as a beer-making supply store, they may be legitimate sites, but AdSense is not for you.

10. Cheat in Any Other Way

This isn't by any means a comprehensive list.

I'm sure there are many ways to game the system that Google hasn't found out about... yet. There always are. AdSense is constantly changing to find new ways to detect click fraud, and eventually you will be caught.

The best way to generate income through AdSense is to create good content that is well optimized for search engines and to promote your site through legitimate channels.

That sounds like a lot of work, because it is a lot of work. However, it's a strategy that won't get you banned.

Search Engine Marketing

Using Search Engines and Directories for Marketing

Search engine marketing is the practice of marketing or advertising your web site through search engines, like Google, Yahoo or MSN. Search engine marketing (SEM) may consist of one or more of the following components:

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - Search engine optimization is the practice of applying techniques to maximize your ranking in organic, or natural search results. Organic search results are the rankings of Web pages returned by a search engine when you search for a specific word or phrase - a "keyword" or "keyword phrase".
  • Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC) - Ads you place for your web site with a search engine, such as Google or Yahoo. You bid the amount you are willing to pay per click. The more you bid, the higher your ad will appear in the search engine results.
  • Google AdWords has implemented an additional factor in where your ads rank that is based on the relevancy or importance that Google places on your site, which is very difficult to manipulate.

You can also use pay per click advertising to your advantage on your own site. For example, you can make money with Google AdSense and other similar programs.
  • Pay For Inclusion (PFI) - In addition to search engines, like Google, Yahoo and MSN search, numerous directories also exist on the web. These directories may be general in nature or related to a specific topic. You can get free listings in some online directories, like DMOZ but most directories now charge for a listing. Verizon's SuperPages is an example of a PFI directory. Another example of a major directory is again, Yahoo. Yahoo Directory, which is separate from Yahoo search, is described in Yahoo's own words as: Subject-based directory listing Web sites in a wide range of topics, from arts, entertainment, and society and culture, to science, education, and health.

Why is Search Engine Marketing Important?

You may or may not decide to make search engine marketing part of your marketing and advertising strategy. If you don't have a Web site for your business and don't plan to ever have one, you certainly wouldn't need search engine marketing. However, in today's business climate, nearly all business are expected to have a Web site and most do.

Search engine marketing is used as a way to get traffic to your Web site, which in turn should ideally lead to getting new customers and adding to your home business revenues. Compared to other means of marketing and advertising, search engine marketing can be very cost effective. For example, you could implement some search engine optimization techniques on your own. Organic search rankings are free, so if you can move yourself up in the rankings, your traffic should increase, which, in turn, should increase your home business revenues. Similarly, Pay Per Click Advertising can be very inexpensive. Since you can set limits on how much you'll pay per click and how much you'll pay per day, it's fairly easy to keep your costs in line. Likewise, some Web directories - like DMOZ - allow free listings, and others can cost as little as $30 per year.

How do I Measure SEM Effectiveness?

How you measure the effectiveness of your search engine marketing program depends on what your objectives were when you started. If your intent was merely to increase the number of visitors to your Web site, you would determine if your SEM efforts were successful by comparing your Web traffic statistics before and after you implemented search engine marketing.

Be patient though, search engine marketing efforts may take considerable time to boost your traffic. Although you can instantly get your PPC ads running, if you are aiming at improving traffic through SEO, it can be several months before you see solid results - especially through Google. Likewise, if you request a directory listing from DMOZ, your listing may not appear for 6 months to a year. DMOZ is staffed by volunteers and, because DMOZ listings can have a positive affect on your organic search rankings, it is arguably the most popular and valuable free Web directory listing to get.

In addition to site traffic, you need to track your conversion rates. For example, if, as a result of your search engine marketing efforts, your traffic doubles from 250 to 500 visitors per month, how many new customers did you acquire from the additional 250 visitors to your site. Do you now have twice as many customers as you did before? Probably not. If you picked up 5 customers your conversion rate would be 2 percent of the new traffic (5 divided by 250) and 1 percent (5 of 500) overall.

Find ways to increase the number of visitors to your Web site, and then find ways to increase the conversion rates of those visitors, and you'll know exactly what it takes to make your search engine marketing program successful.

Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC)

Using Google AdWords for Your PPC Campaign

The key to successful advertising is to find a method of conveying your information to as many people as possible while keeping your advertising costs to a minimum. Pay per click (PPC) advertising may be one of the easiest ways to generate traffic to your Web site and score some decent profits from your search engine marketing campaign. Google AdWords is the most popular form of pay per click advertising for small businesses, partly because of Google's popularity, and partly because it allows you to control your expenses by setting daily maximums for each ad.

With PPC, you pay only when someone clicks your ad and visits your Web site. Ads may be placed on search engine results pages (SERP) or on Web sites that are identified as releated to your targeted keywords.

How much you pay for each click depends on how much you're willing to bid for your selected keywords. The higher your bid, the better chance you'll have of getting your ad listed at the top of the ads displayed on the page. When managed skillfully, pay per click advertising can help you attract prospects to your Web site and convert your prospects to paying customers.

Google Adwords is not only a pay per click advertising outlet, it's a powerful tool that can be used as an advertising template for your online ads. Additionally, as arguably the largest Web-based global marketing network, Google is a good way to get exposure for your Web site on the Internet. You can get information about Google AdWords from just about every search engine results page Google displays by clicking the Advertising Programs link at the bottom of the page. By placing the highest bid on a keyword or keyword phrase you can get great page ranking when someone types your keyword into their browser for a Google search.

Google Adwords makes pay per click advertising easy to manage. You create an account, select potential keywords, write your ad and then place your bid per click and set your daily maximum for your targeted keywords. You decide if you want your ads to appear only on Google's search pages (Search Network) or on other Web sites (Content Network - Google AdSense) or both. You can also use site targeting that allows you to select individual Web sites where your ads will appear, such as on this About Home Business Web site. Your ads are subject to Google's approval but the approval process and launching your ads happens very, very quickly.

There are plenty of sites that want to host your ads, too, because making money with Google AdSense has become a hot business of its own.

Google provides online tutorials that break up information in small, easy to understand parts, all of which you can access before you even create your Google AdWords PPC account. Google’s Adwords runs a little differently than standard pay per click (PPC) advertising programs. In addition to the amount you bid for your targeted keywords, other factors may be used to determine your ad's ranking, such as the quality score, which takes your agreed cost per click (CPC) and then multiplies it by a quality score factor, which is explained in the AdWords Pricing/Ranking tutorial.

Google allows you to specify your position preference. Using this option, you can specify the highest and lowest positions acceptable for your ad. Your ad not be displayed at all if it's not going to rank high enough. And, you can set different position preferences for each ad or ad group. Using Google AdWords tools, you can get a good idea of how many clicks you can expect for your ad and an idea of how much your online advertising campaign will cost. Stopping or pausing a pay per click campaign is also very easy and fast.

PPC can be an important part of your Internet marketing, and specifically, search engine marketing strategy. You can also take a reasonably priced online course to learn the ins and outs of pay per click marketing to improve your skills. Using a pay per click )PPC) campaign effectively can result in increased traffic to your Web site and increased sales for your business.

Google AdWords features a nice set of tools for managing your pay per click ad campaigns. Their online tutorials make it easy to understand, implement, and manage online advertising for your web site.

Using Google AdWords is a great learning experience. Because of the easy to use tracking features, you can even learn from your mistakes by seeing which targeted keywords result in conversions and which do not.

Making Money from Your Web Site with Google AdSense

Is it as Easy as it Seems to Make Money with Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is the Google program where you can host pay-per-click ads on your Web site. When someone clicks an ad, you earn money. Simple as that.

Is it really as easy to make money with Google AdSense as many would lead you to believe? Now that I've become heavily involved with managing Google AdSense programs for my clients, I can see it's not all play and no work.

Unfortunately, a lot of people bought into the idea that there was a lot of easy money to be made and they are now finding out they aren't making nearly as much as they thought they would. Additionally, Google has a lot of prohibited practices when it comes to AdSense, and too many Webmasters are finding out they violated Google's policies after the fact - often because they never bothered to read the AdSense policies in the first place.

Webmasters must not only comply with AdSense policies, but their web sites must also comply with Google's webmaster policies.

Prerequisites for Making Money with AdSense

To make money with Google AdSense you need plenty of traffic coming in to your site or there won't be anyone to click the ads.Web site promotion techniques, especially search engine optimization and article marketing will bring more traffic to your site. You also need to have content that will attract the ads with the highest Pay Per Click (PPC) rate that are relevant to that content. Then, you need to lay out your web pages so the ads blend in with your Web site. Studies have revealed that people who visit sites that contain ads that use colors that are not in harmony with the actual Web site tend to develop "ad blindness". Meaning no matter how much traffic comes into your site, chances are no one will click the ads because they'll be ignoring them. If no one clicks, you make nothing.

Dealing with Competitors

If you offer products or services on you Web site, the first thing you'll notice when you begin hosting PPC ads is that many of the ads are coming from your competitors. Therefore, you'll want to put ads on pages that aren't earning you any money, or do like I did and not put ads on your site until you're so busy anyway you'd rather make a few dollars off of your competitors than to continue turning business away with nothing to show for it.

Google AdSense allows you to specify up to 200 URLs for sites you want to bar from placing ads on your pages. The problem is that most times you won't know the competitors are out there until their ads appear.

Google Money Making Ad Options

Google offers three ways to make money from them:
  • Google AdSense for Content - A variety of size and shape ads for placing in your content are available. These can be text or image ads or both - you specify what you'll allow. Ad units are full ads. Link units are simply a strip of text links that your visitors might want to click. Google allows you to put up to 3 Ad Units and 1 Link unit on each page of your Web site, provided you follow its policies - both for AdSense and for Webmasters.
  • Google AdSense for Search - This places a search box on your Web site. When a user enters a term and conducts a search, a search results page opens, that hosts more pay-per-click ads. You can customize the color scheme of the search results page to harmonize with your web site.
  • Google Referrals - Here you make money by referring visitors to use a Google product, like AdSense, AdWords, the Google Toolbar and other Google software. Just like Google AdSense for Content and AdSense for Search, Google generates the code that you paste into the desired location on your web page. You can choose from a wide variety of buttons and text links of different colors. As an example of how Google Referrals works, if someone goes to your site and clicks the link and signs up for an AdSense account, when that person earns a $100 from Google AdSense and receives a payout from Google, you'll also receive $100 for referring them. This is a great idea to me, because you can be the world's worst Google AdSense advertiser, but if an ad dynamo happens to visit your site and uses your referral link, you can make money anyway!

Google AdSense Payments

Google will not issue an AdSense payment until your earnings exceed $100. Unfortunately, there are loads of Google AdSense Forum entries about Web site operators who accumulated $90 or more in click through earnings only to get banned from Google and not get paid anything at all before they ever reached $100. This may be because Google doesn't take a close look to see if you're complying with their guidelines until it comes time to pay you. So yes, there's a lot more to the story than meets the eye.

Other Programs Besides AdSense

Yahoo and MSN have similar programs, although those programs aren't as well-developed as Google AdSense and there aren't as many available advertisers to display ads on your site. The fundamentals for making money are the same. You still need plenty of traffic, you still need high-paying ads, and you still need to design your site to harmonize with the ads to get people to click.

Company Announces AdSense Business Package

AdSenseProject.com has announced in this press release that they will soon be offering what they consider to be a complete package of tools you can use to create your own Google AdSense business in a jiffy. With an expected price point of less than $300, the package could be extremely popular with those who seek to start a home based business by hosting and earning revenues from Google Pay Per Click ads displayed on their Web pages.

The AdSense package is expected to include three major search engine marketing components needed by anyone looking to start an AdSense home based business:
  • Web hosting to be used for publishing the AdSense ads
  • Search engine optimized content to use on the Web site displaying the AdSense ads
  • Search engine optimization software
The package is being marketed as a "home business in a box" of sorts. The company says it will pre-install all of the components necessary to get started on the customer's host server(s), so a potential AdSense home business owner doesn't need tech savvy to run this business. The bundling structure will allow clients to purchase the package for a third party as a gift, so the timing of its introduction is conveniently scheduled to coincide with the busy holiday shopping season. The product will be released with the slogan "When was the last time you bought someone a business?"

Only time will tell if this is a viable home based business package to consider, but it seems to have some potential. Keep in mind that you still need to devote time and effort to your home business in order to make it succeed, so you shouldn't expect everything to happen automatically. It's been my experience that in order to see good click through rates (CTR) on AdSense or similar ad publishing programs, the ads need to be incorporated in the Web page layout properly. Formatting and page layout issues are big when it comes to earning revenue from these types of online advertising programs. The other thing you'll need to spend some time on is analyzing your results. You'll want to know which layouts and which ads are bringing in the money.

Article Marketing Research Strategies by MichaelThis article will explain article marketing research strategies and how they will help your site.

This article will explain article marketing research strategies and how they will help your site.

If you've been around Internet marketing for any length of time, you know that article marketing is pretty hot. Article marketing is sort of like 'supply and demand' in marketing. The point behind article marketing is to find keywords that are being searched for heavily BUT that there isn't a lot of information available on. That means there is a heavy 'demand' for that information, but there is a low 'supply' of that information available on the topic. And that is your 'niche'. You have just identified the front of a trend and are now, once you have identified your topic, you want to create a well written article on it and sprinkle affiliate links throughout the article.

One of the better known and older affiliate portals is Clickbank. Clickbank has been around for years and is a well respected and heavily used affilate site where you can promote various products through the affiliate program, as well as sell your own products or services through the affiliate program.

There is a talent involved in this, or a skill, however you want to look at it. When doing article marketing for a specific niche, you will live or die by your keywords. The keywords are going to be what brings in the readers (traffic) and future customers from the search engines.

So where do you start in your keyword search? Well there are a couple places that provide free software. One of them happens to be Google. A lot of people overlook Google Labs. Google labs offers free tools to help you get started, all of them are free, and all are pretty easy to use. Here are my favorites and how I am using them:

Google Trends: Google trends lets you see what the popular search terms are in real time. This is telling you what are the hot search terms at any given time to give you an idea what people are interested in. Google Trends will sort of point you in the right direction for what people are looking for (the demand)

Google Suggest: After you go to Google Trends to see what the hot searches are right now, and you've found something that looks like a hot little niche market, next thing you need to do is come up with keywords. The idea is to come up with keywords that reference the hot trend, but dont return a lot of results. That means there are a lot of people hungry for information on the subject, but there arent that many places for them to find information on the article (the supply).

Once you have a hot topic with relatively low return of pages, there is the basis for your niche article! Now...how do you market that article? Well, if you have your own site or blog, that would be the best place to start. There are also a couple other sites that are VERY popular with the search engines because of their SEO.

Ezinearticles The 500 lb gorilla of article submission sites. Great PR, high traffic, lots of directories. They are somewhat particular about what they accept so you cant just cut and paste or slap together a link page and think they will take it, because they wont. GoArticles This is a pretty good site with a high PR. Very easy to use as well. USFreeAds Another good site for people who want to write articles but maybe don't have their own site. This site doesnt have the page rank (PR) that ezinearticles and goarticles has, so a slight adjustment will need to be made. But it is free and pretty easy. All of these sites are free to post. These are known as 'article dumps'. Everyone knows that content is king on the internet, but that doesnt mean that they can actually create content. So, they go to article dumps to pick up articles to populate their site. If your article gets picked up by a big site, you can wake up in the morning with a lot of affiliate money :)

There are more sites than just those 3, but those are the heavy hitters in article submission area.

You probably create a little more income without your own domain name if you set up a blog at blogger.com or wordpress.com. You can do this also for free. Ad google adsense and maybe a few other monetizing

When you create your article, you want to use your keywords throughout AND in the title. Also if you have a wordpress blog, you want to turn on your extended suffixes for articles so that you have the title imbeded in the link name as well.

You can post that article to your blog/site or to the ezie submission sites. My suggestion would sort of be toh..but not the exact same. You want something on the free sites that makes people want to come to your site to finish reading.

There are 2 reasons I really started to investigate this more was because of a site called Bum Marketing. I signed up for bum marketing and read through the information and found it very informative. Then I happened to be looking at stats on google analytics and noticed that this article on making money online with no money is responsible for 6% of overall traffic to this site. If you click on that link and look at the URL you'll see that the url is juicy with pretty popular keywords and thats what brought traffic to that post from search engine queries.

Those are the basics and should get you going in the right direction. I'm doing a little more testing and I'll post what I find later
